FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Optronics® announces the introduction of Microcast® HD, a state-of-the-art True High Definition Microscope Camera System with 1080P resolution at 60 frames per second at full resolution.

SANTA BARBARA, CA – October 2007- Optronics®, a manufacturer of innovative medical grade cameras for microscopy, announces the introduction of Microcast® HD, a state-of-the-art True High Definition Digital Microscope Camera System with 1080P output at 60 frames per second.

Microcast® HD creates the ultimate cinematic microscope visualization experience.  Powerful embedded software delivers superior color accuracy, detail and depth perception of microscope images.  “Its truly lifelike picture quality that emulates the 3D-imaging with smooth natural motion, life-like color and unsurpassed detail… the image is analogous to what one would see through the microscope oculars without the negative ergonomic factors often associated with their use…” stated Marc Amling, International Director of Visualization for Optronics.

Utilizing true 3CCD high-definition progressive scan technology, Microcast® HD delivers image resolution of 1920 x 1080 (2 million) pixels with real-time frame rates that reflects natural human vision.

Whereas traditional large format sensor cameras offer mega pixel resolution they typically produce slow frame rates that do not exceed 3-10 frames per second.  Traditionally 3CCD cameras offer faster frame rates but lack resolution and detail required for demanding microscope inspection applications.  Microcast® HD is the first microscope camera that offers both mega pixel resolution and speed.

Microcast® HD is a true C-Mount camera.  The camera is designed to be installed on a variety of microscopes for use in Surgical, Biomedical and Metallurgical imaging.

Camera control can be accomplished directly from the camera head or through a remote control keypad.  No computer is required.  Image outputs include 2 X DVI, RGB, S-Video and DV.
